Nicholas Gibbon built the house around 1730 after acquiring land in Greenwich, according to the historical society's house history. Flemish-bond brickwork and the town-house-inspired layout reflect transatlantic design choices in a rural Delaware Bay community.
Inside are furnished rooms, a large kitchen fireplace and displays of locally connected objects. The house tour gives more context than an exterior view, especially when a docent can connect the building to Greenwich's wider history. The adjacent grounds include another preserved historic structure.
The house is at 960 Ye Greate Street, Greenwich. The society says it is closed January through March and offers guided tours in the open season; its museum-hours index and individual house page differ on which weekdays are open. Call 856-455-4055 before your visit. Source checked October 11, 2026.
